Franchise FAQ
Thinking about opening an Aspen Attic Insulation location? Good. We’d rather talk straight than pitch. Here are the questions we get asked most, answered the way Garrett answers them during an inspection: what you need to know, what it costs, and what happens next.
Common Questions
Do I need insulation experience to open a franchise?
No. You need to be able to run a business and care about doing right by homeowners. We teach you the trade, from reading an attic to matching the right material to the right house. What we can’t teach is showing up on time and meaning what you say. That part we screen for.
What’s the total investment range?
Most owners should plan for a total investment in the mid-to-high five figures to get doors open, depending on your market and whether you start with one van or two. That includes equipment, initial material inventory, training, and working capital for the first few months. We give you a written breakdown before you commit to anything, same as we do for every attic job we quote.
Is financing available?
Many of our owners use SBA-backed loans or conventional small business lending. We don’t lend money ourselves and we don’t make financing promises, but we’ll point you toward lenders who understand home service franchises. Your exact terms depend on your credit and financial picture, and that’s between you and your lender.
Do I get protected territory?
Yes. Each Aspen location gets a defined service area, and we don’t overlap owners in the same market. Your territory is spelled out in the franchise agreement before you sign. You’re building a local business under the Aspen name, and you should know exactly where your name carries.
How long is training?
Initial training runs three weeks: one week in the field with an established crew, one week on pricing and the Threshold Verified protocols, and one week on running the business side. After that, you’re not on your own. We do ride-alongs, monthly calls, and refresher training when you add a new material line or service.
What are the ongoing fees and royalties?
There’s a royalty based on a percentage of gross revenue, plus a small brand fund contribution. The percentages are disclosed early in the process, before you spend a dollar on legal review. We don’t hide numbers in fine print. If a fee exists, you’ll see it in writing.
How long does it take to open?
Most owners are running jobs within four to six months of signing. That includes territory mapping, training, getting your van wrapped and stocked, and your first wave of local marketing. Some markets move faster, some slower depending on permitting and licensing in your state.
What support do I get after opening?
You get the Threshold Group behind you: marketing assets, pricing guidance, vendor relationships with all eight material brands, and a live person on the phone when you need an answer. The 365-Day Done Right Promise and the name-and-photo-before-the-visit protocol are your operating system, not slogans. Your techs work to Threshold Verified, and so do you.
What kind of person makes a good Aspen owner?
Someone who answers the phone. Someone who doesn’t mind being known in their town. Our best owners are hands-on for the first year, run their own estimates, and build a reputation one attic at a time. If you’re looking for passive income, this isn’t that franchise. If you’re looking to own a business people trust, keep reading.
